Upon leaving Apt by the road leaving to Marseille (D943), take the direction of Bonnieux at the roundabout. The road twists through the famed vineyards of the Luberon. Once in Bonnieux, turn right so as to arrive by the lower part of the village. Go up the road following the rampart walls so as to reach, once at the top, by way of the "calades" (round stones serving as paving stones, typical of the region), the 12th century church and enjoy the fabulous views over the Calavon plain. You can visit the original "Musée de la Boulangerie" (Bakery Museum), rue de la République. Then carry on by way of the D 36 for 1 km, before taking a right towards the "Forêt des Cèdres", the forest of cedars. Walk along the botanical pathway (1h00).
Return to Bonnieux, back down towards the bottom of the village, and head for Lacoste on the D3 road, and then D109. Park at the foot of the village, by the church, and walk up, on the"calades", which will take you to the ruins of the castle of the Marquis de Sade.

Take again the D109 to visit Ménerbes, and then Oppède-le-Vieux by way of the D188. Visit the village, the castle's ruins and the collegiate church of the 12 th century, Notre Dame d'Alidon.
Head for Cavaillon but take a left as you exit Robion, to get onto the D973 in Cheval-Blanc, and take a left in direction of Mérindol.
9 km on, on your left, you will see the "gorges de Régalon", a spectacular canyon (which cannot be passed when it is raining).
Visit Mérindol, infamous since the 1545 "Vaudois massacres". there is a bird watching centre on the other side of the D973. You can then go to Lauris, and take the D27 to go to Lourmarin. Visit the village and the 15th century castle.
Return to Apt by the "Combe de Lourmarin" (D943) and the col du Pointu.
